How I made this display of
Tim Holtz Paper Dolls
***************************************
The photos are more orange than the finished piece.
**********************************************
I selected the figures I wanted to place in the boxes,
these are the smallest from the set, so gorgeous.
I added some figures sitting down
and leaning for extra effect.
***************************************
Then because I had to paint the box
I placed them aside in the order I had chosen.
********************************************
The box is painted with strong coffee, just the right shade.
Lol.
I chose papers with a steam punk feel
to line the back of the box.
**************************************************
I used metal steampunk embellishments inside the boxes.
I placed the figures in
to see where the embellishments
need to be
so they would show behind the dolls.
*******************************************************************
I used tooth picks
and epoxy putty
to make sure they did not tip over
Then set the toothpicks in the stand of epoxy putty.
**************************************************************
I chose some wood cogs
to add a touch of steam punk to the assembly
They were a little plain
so I used Finnebair rust pastes
to grunge them up.
*********************************************************************
I also used the rust pastes on the floor of each compartment
and covered the doll stands with it.
It looked too orange so I added some coffee on top,
matched in perfectly with the rest of the box.
The finished product.
This is wonderful!!! Thanks for all the info - Love the toothpick & epoxy idea!
